Unlocking Green Opportunities: Exploring Cannabis Courses for Aspiring Experts

Hey there, my fellow enthusiasts! Today, we’re diving into the exciting world of cannabis education, exploring the greenest opportunities that Missouri has to offer. So, grab your favorite strain, kick back, and let’s take a deep dive into the fascinating realm of Cannabis Courses.

The Rise of Cannabis Courses in Missouri

First things first, let’s talk about why the Show-Me State is suddenly showing a keen interest in Cannabis Courses. It’s all about the booming cannabis industry. You see, ever since the good people of Missouri gave the nod to recreational marijuana back in November, things have been heating up. We’re talking about an industry that’s been averaging a cool $120 million a month in sales since March. That’s right; we’re on track to surpass a billion bucks in our first year of legalized recreational marijuana sales. Talk about green!

With all this green being thrown around, it’s no wonder students are lining up to get a piece of the action. Take Karina Hernandez, for example. She already has a biology degree but decided to go back to school to get her hands dirty in the world of horticulture at St. Louis Community College. To her surprise, she found courses on hemp and cannabis cultivation on the curriculum. Now that’s what I call a budding opportunity.

    Missouri’s Cannabis Certificate Programs

So, what’s the deal with all these Cannabis Certificate Programs popping up all over Missouri? Well, most of them are offered online, making it super convenient for budding cannabis enthusiasts. But hey, if you’re more of a hands-on learner, places like Meramec are letting students get up close and personal with hemp plants. That’s right, a real “weed” experience.

But wait, there’s more! Truman State University in Kirksville has jumped on the bandwagon, offering a bachelor’s degree in cannabis and natural medicinals. Yeah, you heard it right, a legit degree in cannabis. Imagine having a diploma that says you’re a certified cannabis connoisseur. It’s like the Hogwarts of the weed world!

    Job Opportunities Galore

Now, let’s get serious for a moment. All this education isn’t just about getting your weed knowledge up to snuff. It’s also about preparing students for the green job market. The number of licensed marijuana employees in Missouri has shot up by nearly 8,000 since November. We’re talking about 17,615 employees statewide, folks. That’s a lot of pot professionals!

One thing’s for sure, nobody wants to be stuck behind a desk these days. And guess what? A lot of folks in those Cannabis Courses feel the same way. They see the cannabis market as their ticket to a career in plant science. It’s like they’re saying, “I’d rather be with the plants than with paperwork.” Can’t blame ’em.

    Educating the Cannabis Workforce

St. Louis University was one of the pioneers in offering online cannabis certificate programs back in 2020. They teamed up with BeLeaf Medical, the first medical marijuana company in the state, to make it happen. Now, they’re churning out cannabis-savvy graduates left and right. And guess what? The industry is loving it. Companies are constantly on the lookout for fresh talent, and these students are getting snapped up faster than you can roll a joint.

But hold on, it’s not just about growing weed. Metropolitan Community College in Kansas City partnered with California-based Green Flower to offer an online program that covers everything from cannabis cultivation to product development. It’s like a one-stop-shop for all things green. Whether you’re into growing, selling, or creating cannabis products, they’ve got you covered.

    Getting Hands-On with Hemp

Both Truman and St. Louis Community College stand out because they let students get their hands dirty with hemp plants. You see, they can’t use marijuana plants for instruction because of federal funding restrictions. But thanks to the 2018 farm bill, hemp is fair game. So, you get to work with the real deal. It’s like learning to cook without ever tasting the food.

    What’s Next for Cannabis Education?

So, what’s next for cannabis education in Missouri? Well, St. Louis Community College is hoping to get its program approved by the Missouri Department of Higher Education and Workforce Development. They want to make sure they’re giving students the greenest thumbs possible. And speaking of green, Southwest Missouri State University has added horticulture and cannabis as an option within its agribusiness program. It’s all about preparing students for those “green” jobs, from sustainable food horticulture to greenhouse management.

    Beyond Cannabis: Exploring Natural Medicine

But let’s not forget, it’s not just about cannabis. Truman State University is taking it up a notch by focusing on natural medicine and holistic healing. They’re not just about getting you high; they’re all about exploring the scientific, cultural, and legal aspects of natural medicines. It’s like taking a journey through time to discover the healing power of plants and oils.

    Wrapping it Up

So, there you have it, folks, the lowdown on Cannabis Courses in Missouri. From online certificates to full-blown degrees, the green wave is sweeping across the Show-Me State. Whether you’re a budding botanist or just want to explore the world of natural medicines, there’s a program for you. And with the cannabis industry showing no signs of slowing down, these courses might just be your ticket to a “highly” rewarding career.

Thanks to Rebecca Rivas of the Missouri Independent for bringing us this “highly” informative story.
